Linda Edwards LMT is a Licensed Massage Therapist and doTERRA Wellness Advocate.
Linda graduated from SHI Medical Massage School in Lebanon, Ohio and began her full time massage career in 2009. Linda specializes in therapeutic massage, deep tissue massage, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy and doTERRA’s AromaTouch Technique.
Shortly after receiving her massage therapy license, Linda took additional training to become certified in Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy. Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a type of massage in which the therapist gives all or most of the massage treatment with her feet and uses overhead bars to hold onto for balance. This specialized massage was developed by Ruthie Hardee in the United States in 1999. Barefoot massage has been practiced for thousands of years by Buddhist monks and is a part of ancient history in many eastern cultures.
Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy is a westernized version of barefoot massage and is very much like Swedish massage with flowing and relaxing strokes, yet the pressure is very heavy on the body similar to deep tissue massage. The technique is ideal for athletes however modifications can be made for different body types.
Linda has incorporated essential oils into her massage practice by learning AromaTouch Technique. AromaTouch Technique is a clinical approach to applying essential oils along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet to help stimulate and balance sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems of the body. The AromaTouch Technique improves well-being by reducing physical and emotional stressors and by supporting healthy autonomic function. The technique is simple and intuitive and uses doTERRA Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils for an unparalleled grounding experience.
The AromaTouch Technique includes four primary steps designed to minimize systemic stressors to autonomic balance. Each step includes the application of two essential oils or essential oil blends specifically formulated to support healthy emotional and physiological functions for wellbeing.
Linda is also trained in application of RockTape, a type of kinesio taping which is highly effective for helping the body heal after injuries, enhancing performance in athletes and aiding in the correction of bad postural positions or chronic conditions such as plantar fasciitis or shin splints.
Linda spent most of her working career as a graphic artist. She worked 15 years for the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and 4.5 years for the Cincinnati Enquirer. She had been interested in art since childhood and her first paying job was as a portrait artist at Kings Island.
In 2001, Linda quit her corporate job to pursue a fine art career. She painted for 6 years and showed her work in local galleries and at Agora Gallery in Chelsea, New York. Linda still paints and has her work in House of France in Oakley and in Montgomery.
In 2007 Linda decided to go back to school to get her massage therapy license. Linda’s mom had been a massage therapist and that was a large part of the decision.
Philosophy of Healing
Linda believes that every human body has an innate ability to heal itself given the proper care and tools. She believes that bodywork is just one of the ways to facilitate healing. Linda sees the process of massage therapy, and other forms of bodywork, as just a few of the ways the body, mind and soul can move forward in the healing process.
